About Us
This website is part of a capstone project for the MA in Outdoor Education Leadership at Prescott College. The project focuses on developing ecological literacy in elementary school students through a garden-based curriculum.
I believe that teachers and educators can benefit from having updated comprehensive resources, lesson plans, and activities to help their students understand and apply ecological principles, engage in sustainable gardening practices, and develop a lifelong connection with nature.
Hello everyone, hola a todos, my name is Luis Ortiz.
I have practical experience leading gardening programs with children and youth in Honduras. I have worked with friends and peers to gather feedback on how to teach ecological and sustainable principles to elementary school children.
As a Latinx individual with roots in the Mayan Indigenous tribes from Honduras, I combine my cultural heritage with modern environmental challenges. My gardening and farming experience guided my approach to teaching and outdoor education. Through this project, I want to help teachers and students connect with nature and learn about sustainable gardening.
